After devoting himself in 2020 to creating and recording a new 12-track album, ‘ROAD TO WISDOM’, scheduled for release in May 2022, Tomawok will surprise listeners in May 2022 with a more conscious, sensitive, mature and intimate work that still gets crowds dancing.

The themes have broadened, with artist Tomawok talking about global warming, animal rights, the pleasure of cooking, and his view of society, sometimes with a touch of humour. Tomawok has chosen to surround himself, as usual, with legends of Jamaican music such as Capleton on the track ‘Bun Dem Down’ and Chezidek on ‘Me Kitch En’, not to mention icons of the French and Réunionese scene with Mesh and Mc Duc.

With the same high standards and quality in mind, the beat/riddim makers are French duo D&H and Polish artist Dreadsquad.
The album was mainly recorded at Irie Ites Studio by Judi-k, with features recorded in Kingston at Capleton’s studio and in St Mary with Chezidek.
The album was mixed by D&H, then mastered by Scratch in Trinidad and Tobago.

Tomawok already has a long artistic history. He was first a member of the band Zetlaskars (Ska-Fusion), signed in 2003 to the Crash Disques label, then the band Urban Poizon (Hardcore Rap) in 2004. and finally, in 2007, he joined the Parisian band Grime Sin (Grime/drum’n’bass) alongside Mesh M18 and Titine Boy.

At the same time, the TOMAWOK project had been germinating in his mind for some time, and in 2007 he decided to devote himself to it full-time :

– Lyric’hall / Street album – 10 tracks / 2007

Author, composer, performer, he adapts to all styles of rid dims from 70 to 180 BPM. Well-crafted lyrics, rich rhymes, articulate words, a conscious message, and an extraordinary, precise delivery make Tomawok an essential artist. The stage is his outlet, like a lion released into an arena, energised and galvanised by his audience in symbiosis.

Tomawok also has more than 1,300 concerts to his credit, with the One Shot Band or as a DJ set, all around the world: France, China, Jamaica, Mali, Ivory Coast, Congo, India, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, Mexico, Georgia, Germany, and Réunion.
